In Korean history, the Gaya period refers to the time from the first to the sixth century.
Gaya was known for its advanced ironworking and steel production and Korea may have exported iron products like armor and weapons to Japan during this era. Gaya also had a distinct pottery culture and is credited with the creation of the gayageum, a traditional Korean zither instrument.
