Los Angeles “New Primary Center” Number 5

The Mariposa-Nabi garden is on a plot of land adjacent to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. It is Los Angeles County’s first community garden built specifically for kids younger than 5 years of age. It opened on November 17, 2012.

A “Little Green Fingers” garden project, it features a “crunch and munch” area for children to wander through picking and eating food, a planting area full of narrow-leaved milkweed to attract monarch butterflies, as well as community plots and garden beds for families. There is also a water-play table.
