Ddeok (떡) is a general term for Korean rice cakes made from steamed and pounded rice flour. Also transliterated into English as tteok or dduk or ttuks, it is an integral part of Korean cuisine and has been consumed for centuries. It is commonly used in dishes like tteokbokki (ddeok in spicy sauce) and tteokguk (rice cake soup).
