Birthday Cafe

A birthday cafe is a unique fan event in South Korea where fans rent out an entire cafe to celebrate a K-pop idol’s birthday. The cafes are decorated with the idol’s photos, posters, and album covers, and custom-made snacks and goodies are provided.

These events are organized by the idol’s fan club or a group of dedicated fans, who reserve the cafe in advance. Fans often visit multiple birthday cafes in one day to celebrate their favorite idol.

While idols rarely attend their own birthday cafes, it is an opportunity for fans to gather with fellow enthusiasts, bond over their shared interest, and show their love and appreciation for the idol. The cafes play the idol’s group’s music throughout the day and give out special gifts to attendees who purchase a drink.

Birthday cafes have become a popular way for Kpop fans to celebrate their idols’ birthdays in an interactive and unproblematic manner, as opposed to chasing idols or sending excessive gifts.
