El Cholo (Since 1923)
Part of a small, local chain of family-owned Mexican restaurants. This original on Western Avenue has been open since the 1920’s.
“El Cholo” refers to a “worker in the field” in the Spanish lingo of those times.
Menu includes blue-corn tamales, chimichangas, fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas.
Open seven days a week, 11:00 am – 9:00 pm.
Located just south of Koreatown’s formal borders in the Harvard Heights district.
* Temporarily shut down by the health department in August 2023 on account of a vermin infestation.
